The Astir Marina of Vouliagmeni, spanning 52,000 m², underwent a radical upgrade with the addition of new building infrastructure. The architectural design was undertaken by the Greek firm AETER Architects. The entire design followed bioclimatic strategies to reduce the energy footprint. Extensive areas of green roofs (on top of buildings or surfaces with underground parking) create a unified whole with the lush landscaping of the surrounding environment, contributing to the creation of a unique destination seamlessly integrated into the area’s distinctive natural landscape. For the infrastructure of the green roofs, products from Prasini Stegi, which are certified by EOTA and have been successfully applied in many projects both in Greece and abroad. The specialized design of Green Roofs’ drainage systems allows for maximum water retention while also ensuring the runoff of excess water. The landscape architecture study was carried out by Simon Rackham, while the construction of the green roofs and planting was undertaken by the company GreenMent.
