Description
The Xerolithi project was designed by Sinas Architects. The main goal of the study was the gentle intervention in the natural environment, so as to create a building that would be assimilated as much as possible into its surroundings. The majority of the building was designed as an underground structure with the wild vegetation of the area continuing above it. The extensive type DIADEM-150 was applied for the construction of the infrastructure of the green roof, using Diadrain-25H drainage boards. The special design of Diadrain-25H allows the retention of the maximum amount of water, which is gradually delivered to the plants, while also allowing the proper ventilation of the root system, and is most suitable for the dry and hot conditions of the Mediterranean climate during the summer months. DIADEM green roof infrastructure systems are certified by the EOTA European Technical Assessment according to the ETA 17/1015 approval.
